People living with dementia and their carers often feel that holidays, travel and outdoor activity are things that are no longer available to them. Often traditional respite involves separating the person with dementia from the family carer such as their husband or wife. This can be stressful for both parties. Dementia Adventure specialises in designing and delivering, fully supported, small group short breaks for people living with dementia, their partner, family member, friend or carer to enjoy together. Our alternative model of respite provides the extra support so the carer gets a break but they can also enjoy a holiday together. Thanks to the support from the Pixel Fund, we are able to subsidise the cost of the holidays to make them more affordable for more people.
